National Handwriting Day is January 23rd
Each year, since 1976, we have celebrated National Handwriting Day. It was a patriotic thing to do in the nation's bicentennial year, to declare National Handwriting Day as an official day of observance here in the United States. This was created by WIMA (Writing Instruments Manufacturing Association), but has been carried over throughout the years by many groups, industries, and educational institutions.
People across the globe are recognizing the value of the written word. Today, this date is also celebrated in Netherlands, England, India, Spain, Italy, and several other countries. Perhaps we should start calling it International Handwriting Day!
